Module Feedstuffs & Feed Formulation
Introduction
Increasing demands for safe food of animal origin have resulted in tight regulations and control systems for all links in the livestock production chain. The quality of feed ingredients with all their various specific characteristics requires special attention in relation to the nutritional needs of livestock. Formulating safe feed at a minimum cost is essential for economical and reliable feed production.
For whom it is intended
· Managers in livestock production, responsible for feed quality;
· Extension officers;
· Professionals in the periphery of the animal feed business (e.g. suppliers of feed additives);
· Professionals who want to specialise in formulating feeds.

Content of training/course
· Nutritional requirements of farm animals;
· Ingredients for mixed feeds and their effect on production levels;
· Quality control of feed ingredients;
· Feed formulation by computer with different programmes.
Methods:
· Integral coverage of topics with practical and theoretical sessions complementing each other;
· Excursions to places of interest such as institutes researching the nutritional value of feeds;
· Ample opportunity to discuss and evaluate personal experiences with fellow participants, staff and subject matter specialists.
Duration of study, minimum number of participants and prices
Course fee is € 1,800.
The course fee includes full board and lodging in a PTC+ guesthouse and excludes international travel expenses and out of pocket expenses.
