Introduction

This course enables owners and managers to ‘look outside their box’ of daily activities to obtain a general insight into production strategies using contemporary technology and equipment for modern greenhouse production.

  • Crop physiology of the main cultivated crops;

  • Environmental control aspects in protective structures;

  • Greenhouse and tunnel structures, cladding materials;

  • Heating systems;

  • Irrigation and fertilization technology;

  • Use of artificial substrates;

  • Crop protection;

  • Integrated pest management;

  • Ergonomics.


Methods
The course involves practical training sessions in the technical well-equipped PTC+ greenhouses, demonstrations, lectures, gaining experience by working with equipment in a practical environment, and excursions to seed companies and a commercial seedling producer in the Netherlands.

The total course fee is € 1,100 excluding board and lodging.
