Submenu Training
Module Pig Breeding And Artificial Insemination
Introduction
Commercial pigs are produced in a very strict breeding programme, which should be understood by everybody involved in pig production. Breeding own replacements is possible but not likely to result in highly productive pigs. In this module the various options that a farmer can choose from in order to improve his herd will be explored. Pig husbandry
has developed such a way that artificial insemination is an
essential part of the production chain. The basic principles of artificial insemination and moment of insemination will be demonstrated and practised. The emphasis in this module will not only be on the technical management but also on the reproductive aspects.
For whom it is intended
